IMSA Racer Brian Henderson Teams Up With Friends of Jaclyn Foundation as Sebring Beckons

CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 14, 2019 (Newswire.com) - IMSA Pilot Challenge Series racer Brian Henderson, 21, is a busy young man these days. A student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte who will graduate this May with a degree in Economics, Henderson carefully divides his time between schoolwork and his racing endeavors. Just in time for his second race event of the season at Sebring International Raceway this Friday, March 15, he begins a partnership with the Friends Of Jaclyn Foundation.

For the Virginia native, the opportunity to utilize his motorsports platform to make a difference through Friends Of Jaclyn was a decision that was easy to make. “I am so grateful to be partnering with Friends Of Jaclyn. This partnership is a tremendous opportunity to raise awareness and improve the quality of life for pediatric cancer patients and their families. Asked about his season-opening race at Daytona, Henderson responded with a smile. “It was an amazing first weekend running the IMPC series with Atlanta Speedwerks teammate Todd Lamb. We had a few ups and downs throughout the weekend. I qualified third for the team, and we were really happy with that effort. It was a long four-hour race and it went well. We had complications during the driver swap and fell back in the field, but Todd drove his way back to the front. We led 17 laps, but then with 30 minutes left in the race, we blew a right front tire. We ended the race one lap down in p4. Overall we were very happy with our team’s performance and results.”

Henderson also talked of the difference in the challenges he faces between Daytona and Sebring. “The biggest difference between Daytona and Sebring is the track surface. Sebring is extremely rough, while Daytona is pretty smooth. Sebring is a more technical track as well. I am pumped to be back in the Honda Civic Type-R, it is a blast to drive. I am excited to get to Sebring and get to work.”
